“To reveal his Son to me so that I would proclaim the Good News about Jesus to the Gentiles. When this happened, I did not rush out to consult with any human being” (Galatians 1:16, NLT). God’s calling always precedes human affirmation, and, in fact, often contradicts it. When we hear from Him, our obedience often requires immediate response without dependence on others’ approval.

“But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God” (Acts 20:24, NLT). We find purpose in fulfilling God’s assignment, not pursuing our own personal comfort. Jesus’ Gospel of Grace is central to our mission as believers.

“And so you cancel the word of God in order to hand down your own tradition. And this is only one example among many others” (Mark 7:13, NLT). Human traditions can override and nullify God’s truth if we accept them blindly without examining them carefully. He therefore warns us against elevating culture or habit above Scripture.

“For the same God who worked through Peter as the apostle to the Jews also worked through me as the apostle to the Gentiles. In fact, James, Peter, and John, who were known as pillars of the church, recognized the gift God had given me, and they accepted Barnabas and me as their co-workers. They encouraged us to keep preaching to the Gentiles, while they continued their work with the Jews” (Galatians 2:8, 9, NLT). God assigns different roles and callings, but all are equally important in His purpose. Unity in the body of Christ doesn’t require identical assignments; diversity of mission can still produce harmony.

“Then he added, ‘Pay close attention to what you hear. The closer you listen, the more understanding you will be given—and you will receive even more’” (Mark 4:24, NLT). Spiritual growth requires intentional listening and attentiveness to God’s Word. This aligns with the principle of increase, which says that what we receive and apply multiplies in our lives.

“They are always thinking about how much it costs. ‘Eat and drink,’ they say, but they don’t mean it” (Proverbs 23:7, NLT). A person’s true character is revealed by their inner thoughts, not merely their outward words. We must be on the alert for insincerity—someone may appear generous but have selfish motives.

  • July 25

“So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor” (1 Peter 5:6, NLT). God promises to exalt us, but this comes in His timing, not ours. Learning to live according to His schedule takes patience and a shift in our mindset.

  • July 24

“And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say, ‘God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.’ So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:6, 7 NLT). Humility is the gateway to receiving God’s grace; by comparison, pride puts us in opposition to God. Spiritual authority begins with our submission—first to God, then resistance against the devil becomes effective.

“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live” (Deuteronomy 30:19). Personal decisions often affect future generations, influencing families and communities. The instruction to “choose life” reveals God’s desire for people to walk in obedience and receive His blessing.

“Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8, NLT). The devil seeks opportunities to bring discouragement, temptation, deception, and destruction. This comparison to a roaring lion emphasizes the seriousness of spiritual warfare.

Out of my distress I called upon the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free and in a large place. The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? (Psalm 118:5, 6, AMPC).

When we’re going through something and we’re under spiritual attack, we can’t possibly lose because God is on our side. He always answers when we call Him, and He reassures us not to be worried or anxious about what others may try to do to us.

And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many(Matthew 20:27, 28).

Being a godly leader requires making sacrifices and serving others in the same way Jesus did. The world teaches us to claw our way to the top of the pack for our own gratification with a “win at all cost” mentality, but it takes courage and commitment to follow God’s teachings.

For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted” (Luke 14:11, NKJV).

The kingdom of heaven is the complete opposite from the way the world operates. Christian service to others can be a humbling experience, but when we humble ourselves God promises to exalt us before everyone.

So, come out from among [unbelievers], and separate (sever) yourselves from them, says the Lord, and touch not [any] unclean thing; then I will receive you kindly and treat you with favor, and I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty(2 Corinthians 6:17, 18, AMPC).

Believers are to live in the world without becoming tainted or infected by it. Just as any earthly father would remind his little ones, our heavenly Father reminds us that we’re His children and should behave as such.

For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:26).

As free moral agents, we get to choose for ourselves whether or not we’re God’s children. In the earthly realm we had no control over what family we were born into, but making the decision to get born again and accept Christ grafts us into a new spiritual family, by choice.

The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together (Romans 8:16, 17, NKJV).

Being God’s children means the world will reject us the same way it rejected Jesus. Our divine family status causes us to suffer for His sake; however, it also gives us access to the same rich inheritance that Jesus received from the Father.

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid (John 14:27, NKJV).

Jesus is the physical manifestation of peace, and what He gives us can’t be found in the world. This gift of peace He offers us is accompanied by a commandment not to fear.

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God” (Matthew 5:9).

One of the names Jesus is known by is the Prince of Peace. Patterning our lifestyle after His because we believe in Him makes us sons and daughters of God.

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

Life always carries with it the potential for trouble; this is unavoidable. However, faith that Jesus has already settled the issue in our favor gives us peace.
