- April 30
“And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them” (Galatians 3:12). The old covenant of the Mosaic Law operated on the basis of human effort; by comparison, faith under the new covenant of grace depends entirely on trusting God. No matter how good our intentions are or how hard we try, we can never earn true spiritual life through performance; it’s received by relying on God’s grace.

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world” (1 John 2:15, 16). Our affections shape our spiritual direction; whatever captures our love ultimately forms our values. Worldly desires are subtle distractions that can quietly pull the heart away from deeper communion with God.

“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus” (Acts 4:13). Genuine confidence doesn’t come from human qualifications but from spending time in Jesus’ presence. A personal relationship Him gives us boldness that others don’t have.

“If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you” (John 15:7). Answered prayer flows from abiding in Jesus and allowing what He says to shape our thoughts, desires, and expectations. Planting God’s Word in our hearts and letting it take root redirects our asking with His will.

“Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart’s desires” (Psalm 37:4, NLT). As we delight in God by drawing close to Him and valuing His presence, He reshapes our desires so that what we long for aligns with His will. Pursuing God positions us to receive from Him; He has promised that those who seek Him will find Him.

“For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him (Philippians 2:13, NLT). Real change comes from God working within us—He supplies both the desire and the ability to do what He asks of us that we’re never left to struggle in our own strength. The Holy Spirit performs this transformation, empowering us to live out God’s will effortlessly.
- April 24
“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is” (1 John 3:2). God saw fit to make us His children, even though the fullness of who we’re in the process of becoming in Christ hasn’t yet been completely revealed. We’ll eventually see Jesus clearly and face-to-face, free from the veil of condemnation and everything worldly.

“But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Corinthians 3:18). As we continue to look at Jesus, and not at our performance, the Holy Spirit begins transforming us without any of our own self efforts. This empowers us be ambassadors for Christ.

“Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy” (Jude 1:24). God—not our own efforts—sustains us, protects us from harm, and presents us as flawless because of Christ’s finished work. He does this even though we’re not perfect; this is grace in action.
- April 21
“And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering” (Luke 9:29). True transformation happens in God’s presence, and prayer becomes the place where His glory is revealed in us. Just as Jesus’ outward appearance changed while He prayed, spending time with God reshapes us from the inside out, allowing His nature to be displayed through us.

September 13
“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much” (James 5:16).
Prayer is a powerful weapon that helps us win the spiritual battles we face each day. We don’t have to be perfect to pray, we just need to have the right spirit. Prayer and healing go hand in hand; when our hearts are in our prayers, God hears us.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:1, 2, NIV).
In painful times when it’s difficult to find the strength to carry on, the Bible gives us multiple examples of perseverance. Noah and Moses demonstrated perseverance by responding in faith to God’s Word. Believers who accepted Jesus’ message learned the reality of God’s promises when Jesus was resurrected; this gave them the courage to persevere.
September 11
“You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised” (Hebrews 10:36, NIV).
It’s hard to follow through on what we know is the right thing to do when life throws challenges in our face. When we’re tempted to give up and throw in the towel, God reminds us to persevere. His promises are based on what Jesus has already done; the strength to endure comes from Him.
September 10
“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’” (Jeremiah 29:11, NIV).
Reading this and all the other promises God makes to us in the Scriptures reveals that He only wants good for us. Life can be a confusing puzzle, but when we study and meditate on His Word, all the puzzle pieces begin to fall into place. The big picture He envisions for us is overwhelmingly joyful.
September 9
“The fear of human opinion disables; trusting in God protects you from that” (Proverbs 29:25, MSG).
Letting ourselves become more concerned about what others think than what God thinks makes us less effective as Christians. When we’re spreading the Gospel of Grace, the world will disapprove and hate us the same way it hated Jesus during His earthly ministry; however, we can’t worry about others’ opinions of us.
September 8
“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well” (Psalm 139:14, NKJV).
We aren’t accidents that just evolved; God, Himself, deliberately made us in His own image. We can praise Him because His works are indeed marvelous. We’re at the top of that list of works.
September 7
“If you let people treat you like a doormat, you’ll be quite forgotten in the end” (Proverbs 29:21, MSG).
Being humble and avoiding pride and arrogance is good, but part of having godly wisdom is also maintaining healthy self-esteem. When our self-respect shows through in everything we say and do, others will notice. This makes our message of the gospel even more powerful.
September 6
“Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned” (1 Corinthians 2:12, 14, NKJV).
Accepting Jesus into our life and receiving the Holy Spirit enables Him to reveal to us godly wisdom, eternal truths, and things hidden from the world. The world operates in the natural realm—it can’t understand and won’t accept the supernatural realm.
September 5
“Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise” (Hebrews 10: 35, 36).
Obeying God’s Word gives us confidence that we’re behaving according to His will. The world tries to take that confidence away, but we must hold fast to it. When life gets difficult, we mustn’t give up; God always keeps His promises.
